Group Art History- mona Lisa
Group art and art history are two AWESOME things. This project, like many others was Pinterest-inspired. To start out, I printed out and cut out the squares to create the outline of the famous Mona Lisa Painting. We read a little history on the painting to give students background. Then we discussed some art elements like color and line. Students chose as a group if they wanted to all use the same color family and the same type of lines and techniques with the oil pastels we were using to color in the squares.

Students enjoyed the fact that even though they had planned out colors, lines and techniques together, their individual styles still created a varying composition with the work. It was exciting to put all of the pieces together!
This is an easy group project that did not take much time but turned out fabulous!
Find a line drawing of a famous painting, enlarge, print it out and cut into squares!
